Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive in Colombo

Upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be greeted by our HI Tours representative and transferred to Colombo, Sri Lanka’s vibrant capital. After check-in, enjoy a city tour covering landmarks like the Old Parliament, Independence Square, Pettah Market, and the serene Gangaramaya Temple, before ending the day with breathtaking views from the iconic Lotus Tower.

Day 2 Into the Cultural Triangle - Habarana & Sigiriya

After breakfast, drive to Habarana, the gateway to Sri Lanka’s cultural triangle, and check in at your hotel. Later, visit the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress—often called the “Eighth Wonder of the World”—to admire its ancient frescoes, the Mirror Wall, and the grand Lion’s Paw before reaching the summit for breathtaking 360° views of the surrounding landscapes.

Day 3 Ancient Ruins & Wildlife Safari

After breakfast, explore the secluded 2,000-year-old Ritigala Monastery, a hidden forest retreat once used by Buddhist monks, with ancient stone pathways and ruins steeped in mystique. In the afternoon, enjoy a thrilling jeep safari in Minneriya National Park, famed for the seasonal Elephant Gathering, where herds of over 200 elephants, along with leopards, deer, sloth bears, and exotic bird species, can be spotted in the wild.

Day 4 Sacred Temples & The Last Kingdom - Dambulla, Matale & Kandy

After an early breakfast, visit the UNESCO-listed Dambulla Cave Temple, renowned for its 150+ Buddha statues and centuries-old murals. Continue to Matale to explore the historic Aluvihara Rock Temple, where Buddhist scriptures were first transcribed onto palm leaves. On arrival in Kandy, enjoy a city tour covering the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic, a walk around Kandy Lake, the lively Kandy Market, and a colorful cultural dance performance.

Day 5 Into the Wild - Exploring Sinharaja Rainforest

After breakfast, depart for the UNESCO-listed Sinharaja Rainforest, Sri Lanka’s last remaining primary rainforest, and check in at your eco-lodge. Spend the day at leisure, surrounded by lush canopy, endemic wildlife, and vibrant birdlife, soaking in the serene beauty of this untouched natural paradise.

Day 6 A Walk Through the Enchanted Forest - Sinharaja Trekking Adventure

Enjoy a full-day trek through the UNESCO-listed Sinharaja Rainforest, a biodiverse haven of rare wildlife, exotic birds, and hidden waterfalls. Follow winding jungle trails to spot endemic species like the Purple-faced Langur, Sri Lankan Blue Magpie, and colorful butterflies, all amidst cool mist and towering trees that create a magical, almost mythical atmosphere.

Day 7 Safari & Wildlife Encounters - Udawalawe National Park

After breakfast, head to Udawalawe, renowned for its rich wildlife and scenic landscapes. After checking in at your riverside retreat, embark on a thrilling jeep safari in Udawalawe National Park, home to large herds of elephants, crocodiles, spotted deer, water buffalo, and over 200 bird species—perfect for unforgettable wildlife photography.

Day 8 Guardians of Wildlife & Colonial Wonders – Udawalawe & Galle

Begin the day at the Udawalawe Elephant Transit Home, watching orphaned elephants gather for feeding as part of a remarkable rehabilitation program. Then travel to Galle to explore its UNESCO-listed Dutch Fortress, stroll cobbled streets lined with colonial buildings, visit the iconic lighthouse, and enjoy sweeping ocean views from the historic fortress walls.

Day 9 Farewell Sri Lanka
